Have you ever wondered why there are always holes in your crackers? And why do they always throw rice over a newly married couple? Well, in this post I’ll give you an answer to these questions.
For breakfast, a break, lunch, crackers are always a good idea. But have you ever noticed that there are usually holes in it? I never worried about it, but actually the holes make sure they don’t break when they’re baked off. Smart though?
Going to a wedding is also throwing rice. But why rice? I mean, it’s not pretty and very impractical for the bride and groom (they have rice everywhere, and with everywhere I mean everywhere ;)). Yet there is a good reason. Falling rice looks a bit like rain, and that equals to prosperity, peace and fertility, because crops grow by rain. I think it’s a nice gesture.
I’m not a big fan of honey, but I do have it in my kitchen for some dishes. And actually, I can’t remember when I bought it. It’s maybe like 5 years old or something. But honey just rarely gets bad. It’s made with a little bit of water. Hereby, bacteria and yeasts can hardly develop. But only if you keep it well.
Japan has strange eating habits, but this one I find very weird. Pufferfish is a toxic fish species and eating it can be deadly. But in Japan it is a delicacy. The law is very strict and it can only be prepared by specially trained chefs, but still… Why do you want to eat something which can be fatal? You got to tell me…
Last but not least, don’t eat bananas in the summer. Mosquitoes love the smell of bananas and after eating that yellow fruit, you’re skin smells like it. Bam, mosquitoes will adore you. But hey, there’s no mosquitoes in the winter…
